The team at Camex Civil were pleased to be awarded this contract to be involved in the Civil Construction work in the construction of this 6000sqm 5-storey building. The Building Te Piringa - marks the 50th anniversary of the university of Waikato. The new building will provide teaching rooms, offices, dedicated spaces for postgraduate students, shared student services, shared computer labs, a reception area and a ceremonial space for meetings with university visitors. This was a break through project for Camex Civil in 2015 being our largest awarded commercial building project. The Camex Civil team carried out Earthworks which involved us excavating approx. 13000m3 of cut to fill which was reprocessed to create a large shaped native landscaping area and Storm Water Wetlands pond on site Removal offsite of over 10000m3 of surplus fill. Drainage works entail us completing 180m Storm Water Drainage varying in depths of 1.5m to 10m deep and 340m Sanitary Sewer through a Urban environment around Waikato University campus. Sanitary Sewer Pipe was a 150mm Cast Iron Pipe encase in 300mm of Concrete with Flexible Joints installed every 5m at a max depth of 8m It will also include a fully functional moot courtroom, and a sunken courtyard which connects to the existing management building at lower ground level. This project was Highly Commended at 21st AAA Unbuilt Architecture Awards in Auckland in November 2012.
