The Hamilton Road Transport Corridor Improvements project is a transformative streetscape initiative in Cambridge. It features the construction of Cambridge's first shared pathway, which is a significant step toward enhancing pedestrian and cyclist-friendliness. This project is a part of the Streets for People initiative.
The scope of the project is extensive and includes the construction of a dual cycleway with a combined surface area of 1,510 square metres of concrete and 2,040 square metres of DG7 asphalt. In addition to the cycleway, the project encompasses the development of drainage assets, kerb and channel enhancements, raised crossings, traffic islands, and soft and hard landscaping.
The creation of the dual cycleway improves safety and accessibility for cyclists and pedestrians, making it easier and more enjoyable for residents and visitors to navigate Cambridge. The project contributes to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the area, fostering a sense of community pride and enhancing the vibrancy of Cambridge's streets.
