Senior Estimator (Cambridge)

We’re on the lookout for a Senior Estimator to join our passionate team. With an exciting pipeline of high-profile projects—from small driveways to large commercial developments and subdivisions - this is your chance to be part of something big.

About the Role:

As a Senior Estimator at Camex Civil, you will be a key member of the New Business Team (NBT). Your expertise in pricing, specifications, and drawings will be crucial in the pre-construction phase for both internal and external stakeholders.

What we’re looking for: 

  • 5+ years’ experience in civil construction estimation.

  • 4+ years’ experience with estimating software such as PRO-EST, Candy, or Benchmark, with a high level of proficiency.

  • Field experience in three-waters, transportation, and civil commercial construction (preferred but not essential). 

  • A New Zealand Diploma in Construction (QS) or a Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics (preferred but not required). 

  • Excellent communication & relationship management skills – you can confidently liaise with clients, suppliers, and teammates.

  • Sound knowledge of the New Zealand Civil Construction industry - civil siteworks, land development, pavements, and drainage/3 waters.

  • Detail-oriented with strong time management & problem-solving skills 

  • Full Class 1 Driver’s License.

Class 5 Truck Driver (Taupō)

With Camex Civil, you will be part of an expert team, supporting the delivery of our works for local body infrastructure, commercial construction and subdivision development projects.

You will be required to driver our Class 5 Truck and support the Project delivery with other machinery operation.

  • Operate the heavy vehicle on project sites to support construction works. 

  • Support the loading and unloading of transported materials. 

  • Conducting pre-operational checks and minor machine maintenance tasks.

  • Working with site crew to maintain safety and flow of work tasks, particularly when working near other machines, structures or services.

Hours of Work:  

  • Minimum of 30 hours per week, with ordinary hours up to 50 hours (Monday to Friday). 

  • Saturday work is available, but not mandatory.

Remuneration packages vary depending on skillset and experience.

Water Reticulation Technician (Taupō)

As a Water Reticulation Technician at Camex Civil, you'll be part of a specialised team delivering drainage and water reticulation projects for local body infrastructure, commercial construction, and subdivisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construct and upgrade reticulation systems for residential subdivisions, commercial developments, and public infrastructure projects.

  • Perform trenching and excavation for water system installations, ensuring compliance with design specifications.

  • Lay, align, and joint pipes of various materials (PVC, PE, ductile iron, etc.).

  • Install fittings, valves, and other components to ensure system functionality and durability.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A great attitude and strong team spirit

  • Leadership qualities

  • Level 4 Pipeline Construction & Maintenance qualification (or comparable), or

  • Any experience in drainage or water reticulation projects will be beneficial 

  • Full Class 1 Driver’s License

  • PE Welding Certificate (bonus!)

Civil Foreman (Bay of Plenty & Cambridge)

We’re looking for  skilled and motivated Civil Foremen to join our dynamic team at Camex Civil in both Bay of Plenty and Cambridge. With a strong pipeline of high-profile projects and a reputation for excellence in civil construction, this is your opportunity to lead crews and deliver top-quality work while growing your leadership skills in a supportive environment.

As a Civil Foreman at Camex Civil, you’ll play a crucial role in overseeing day-to-day site operations and leading a crew to successfully deliver a range of civil construction projects. You’ll be responsible for managing resources, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Team Leadership: You’ll lead and manage a crew, ensuring tasks are completed to the highest standards, while providing mentorship and training to apprentices and junior staff.

  • Project Delivery: You’ll work closely with the Site Manager to oversee all aspects of project execution, from resource allocation and job progress to ensuring timelines and budgets are met.

  • Health & Safety Management: You’ll ensure all onsite health and safety protocols are followed, maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring all required documentation is up to date.

  • Quality Control: You’ll oversee the quality of work, including reviewing plans and drawings, conducting QA tests, and ensuring compliance with project specifications.

  • Communication: You’ll act as a key point of contact between site teams and management, providing updates on job progress and any challenges that arise.

What You’ll Bring:

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is committed to safety and quality, and thrives in a team-oriented environment.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Foreman or leadership role within the civil construction industry.

  • Proven experience in drainage, earthworks, and civil siteworks.

  • The ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage crews and collaborate with site teams.

  • A strong understanding of health and safety regulations in construction.

  • Full Class 1 Driver’s License (Class 2 or WTR endorsements a bonus).

Project Engineer (Cambridge)

We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our team, assisting our Project Managers in handling high-profile projects in the region, providing support in the following areas:

  • Project Programme and Financial Management, including collating, monitoring and analysing data, assisting in programme updates, the submission of variation orders, and completing service and resource orders.

  • Monitoring Quality Assurance in accordance with contractual and regulatory quality standards.

  • Stakeholder Liaison, including working closely with Site Managers, client representatives and engineers to contract, council representatives, and other project participants.

  • Ensure that on-site activities and work comply with applicable safety and environmental standards.

Project locations vary but typically require travel within the Waikato region, offering a diverse range of eye-catching, high profile civil projects to further build your career portfolio and professional network with key partners in the industry.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a suitable qualification with at least 3-years' experience maintaining and monitoring quality assurance processes for civil construction, with thorough understanding of the Regional Infrastructure Technical Specifications (RITS).

  • Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Project.

  • Understanding and ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications

  • A solution-focused attitude, with strong forward planning and adaptability.

  • Excellent communication skills and a well-organised approach to work.

  • Full Class 1 Driver’s License.

Civil Labourer (Cambridge)

As a Civil Labourer at Camex Civil, you’ll be an integral part of our team, assisting with a wide range of civil construction projects. Your work will help shape the infrastructure of our communities, and you’ll gain hands-on experience while collaborating with skilled professionals in the industry.

Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks, such as:

  • Assisting with site preparation, including digging, grading, and laying foundations.

  • Operating hand and power tools to support construction activities.

  • Following instructions from site manager/foreman and working closely with your team to ensure project goals are met.

  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.

  • Performing general labour duties as needed to support the successful delivery of projects.

We’re looking for dedicated team players who are ready to jump in and contribute. To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.

  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills on the job.

  • Good physical fitness and stamina, as this role involves manual labour, lifting, and working on your feet for extended periods.

  • A Full Class 1 Driver’s License with W,T,R endorsements are preferred but not essential. Prior experience in civil construction is advantageous, but we’re happy to train the right candidate!
